comparison: Betesil® versus Daivobet®/Dovobet®
A clinical trial is underway to compare the efficacy and safety of Betesil® medicated plaster versus Daivobet®/Dovobet® ointment in the treatment of chronic plaque psoriasis.
The primary aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of Betesil® (IBSA-Institut Biochimique S.A.) medicated plaster as compared to the reference drug, Daivobet®/Dovobet® (LEO Pharmaceutical Products), when applied daily during a period of maximum 4 weeks on psoriasis plaques localised at elbows and knees. Secondary aims are the evaluation of the products safety and the record of subject’s acceptability of the treatments. |

Countries taking part in the trial are France, Poland and Italy. The trial started in April 2010 and is expected to run until the end of December 2010.

NICE Guidance
NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence which is part of the NHS) has launched a new page on their website that allows carers and members of the public to search for the versions of guidance that are written for them.
Until now, patients and the public have had to look through the individual pieces of NICE guidance in order to identify the relevant patient versions.
The new web page allows users to find all of the 'Understanding NICE Guidance' and quick reference guides in one place. This will make it much easier for patients to find the information they want.
For NICE Guidelines about psoriasis just follow this link - when the new window opens simply type in the word psoriasis in the 'find text' box and then select skin in the 'health topic' box. All the relevant guidance for psoriasis will then be displayed so you can easily select the information you are looking for.
